  • The Lochsa River runs through June 15 most years.
  • Our whitewater rafting trips vary in time and trip length from 2-8 hours depending on trip type, river, and water levels.

  • Paddling is required, the more you put in, the more you get out!

Cancellation Policy

As long as you cancel 48 hours or more before the scheduled date of your trip, you will receive a full refund. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of a trip’s scheduled departure time.  ZTS reserves the right to cancel a trip at any time due to unsuitable or unsafe weather or river conditions.  If ZTS is forced to cancel a trip, you will be notified immediately and a full refund or alternate booking will be arranged.

How do I get a discount on a rafting trip near Missoula?

To get a discount on a Missoula whitewater rafting trip bring a large group! The bigger the group, the bigger your discount! Book 11 or more people, and we’ll take 10% off. We also offer 10% discounts for all veterans and active service members.

Do I need experience to go rafting near Missoula?

No experience is necessary for most of our trips. However, in early spring when the water is high, there may be certain eligibility requirements like good physical condition and the ability to self-rescue.

You do not need experience to raft the Blackfoot River. This is a scenic & beautiful float. During the summer you do not need experience to raft the Alberton Gorge. Both rivers are great for beginners!

When rafting the Lochsa River you likely want experience with paddling. This is a high adventure river. Please contact us if you have questions. We are happy to help you plan your adventure.

What rivers can I raft near Missoula ?

We offer guided trips on the Alberton Gorge, rafting trips on the Clark Fork River, Blackfoot River and thrilling Lochsa River whitewater rafting trips.

What are your river guides' qualifications?

All ZTS guides have undergone a week-long guide school, are certified Swiftwater Rescue Technicians, and have extensive first aid training. Guides must also log a certain amount of hours on the river, and personally be checked off by a trip leader before guiding guest on their own. 

Zoo Town Surfers trains every guide above industry standards. We are proud of our safety record and how we help our guests have the best experience possible when rafting with us.

Do we have to paddle?

Paddling is fun and we encourage you to be an active participant in your adventure. On some of our trips – like high water Lochsa – your paddling is a MUST.

What if it rains?

ZTS goes rafting rain or shine! (You’re going to get wet anyway, so…)

What do you serve on your riverside lunch?

We work with a variety of local restaurants and farmers to provide the freshest lunches possible. The Soup Farm is the most popular vendor we work with and we provide their most popular sandwiches. Riverside lunches also come with chips, fresh pineapple, and cookies made from scratch.
