Missoula, Montana is a community where rivers are a way of life. The Clark Fork, Bitterroot, and Blackfoot Rivers all meet in the Missoula Valley. The Clark Fork River flows through downtown Missoula. Missoula has some of the finest river rafting in Montana! You don’t have to travel very far to find some of the finest sections of river in Montana!

Brennan’s wave is located in Downtown Missoula and is one of the best surf waves in the world for kayakers, rafters, surfers, and riverboarders. In 2010, Brennan’s Wave will host US Team Trials, which is biggest freestyle kayaking event in the United States. We are also working on getting a new wave built called the Max Wave.

The following excursions are the most popular white water and scenic river rafting trips in the Missoula, Montana. Any of our trips – from mild to wild – may be customized to suit your group’s needs.

Blackfoot River

Float through Montana’s classic Blackfoot River Corridor, made famous by Norman Maclean’s, A River Runs Through It, to enjoy crystal clear water and great wildlife viewing. There are numerous sections the Blackfoot has to offer depending on water levels. The river offers some great whitewater in May and early June, and is a relaxing scenic float later in the summer.

Hellgate Canyon/Downtown Missoula Float

Five miles east of Missoula, the Blackfoot river flows into the Clark Fork River forming one of Missoula’s largest waterways. This section right below the former Mill Town Dam is great for sunsets, sightseeing, and quick afternoon floats. This float offers a unique view of the University of Montana, Missoula, and Brennan’s Wave. The trip ends in downtown Missoula where a short stroll will take you to any number of our finest restaurants and bars for an evening only Missoula can offer! Prices start at $45. Alberton Gorge, Clark Fork River (Local’s Favorite!)

Venture into the beautiful gorge of the historic Clark Fork River, lined with spectacular canyon walls, wildlife, and whitewater. The Alberton Gorge is Missoula’s favorite whitewater run, filled with numerous Class II-III rapids and enough water to last all year round! Early spring this is a big water run with Class IV rapids. Our Crystal Springs headquarters, along the length of the canyon, is our base of operations and gives us the advantage of keeping an eye on the river’s action and beauty — right from our doorstep. Meeting all of our clients at Crystal Springs, we also offer the option of post-float barbeques perfect for family get-togethers or company outings. Come visit us for a day of whitewater on the Gorge, we’re there every day, all summer long!
